Dar Timber company is trying its luck in air services covering the pan- Jammu and Kashmir air space. “If things go well, the air services under the banner of Kashmir Air services, will take off next year”, a spokesman of the company said. Kashmir Air Services is a company from the house of Dar’s whose Dar Timber Company is well known in the trade in the state. Dar’s are also in the hotel business having City View Hotel at Gulmarg. Abdul Sattar Dar, Aijaz Ahmad Dar and Mohammad Saqib Dar are the promoters of Kashmir Air Services private Limited. Kashmir Air Services has already undertaken spade work to start the air services and has selected key professionals with vast experience in airlines or aviation to manage the operations of the service. The process of obtaining requisite government and Director General of Civil Aviation ( DGCA) approval has been set in motion. The process of selection of helicopters has also started in parallel with a view to synchronize their induction with securing of requisite government approvals to the extent possible. Sources said that initially Kashmir Air Services will induct six Flight fit helicopters to implement its plans to operate air services between Srinagar-Gulmarg, Srinagar-Pahalgam, Srinagar-Sonamarg , Local Srinagar aerial sightseeing, Srinagar-Tangdar, Srinagar-Kargil, Srinagar-Drass, Srinagar- holy cave shrine of Amarnnath and Srinagar-Uri. A few helicopters will also be configurable to act as Air ambulance to meet medical emergencies arising around these prospective air connected areas. Chartered helicopter air service will also be catered to by Kashmir Air Services, they added.
